Violin Classes Start June 13

We are excited to have Jason Ankney join our staff to teach violin classes. Classes begin on Thursday, June 13 and run through August 8. Space is still available. Call 286-2806 or email info@scottsvillecenter.org.

Beginning Violin Classes - Thursdays
Class A – Ages 8-11 (3:30-4:20)
Class B – Ages 12-15 (4:30-5:20)
Class C – Adults (ages 16 and up) (7:30-8:20)

The beginning violin classes are perfect for the student who wants to learn the basics of performance whether they want to play in the classical, fiddle, folk or other genres. Following the pedagogy of the Bornoff Approach to string education, the instructor uses finger patterns, bowing variations and folk, fiddle, and jazz flavored tunes to ensure competence and flexibility.

While all classes will begin with the same repertoire, the adult class will move more quickly into duets and specialize in fiddle music.

Classes are co-sponsored by The Foundation for the Advancement of String Education.
